Position Overview

Zanaco Bank Plc is inviting applications from suitably qualified and experienced individuals for the following job aimed at contributing to the Bank’s strategic vision, in the CEO’s Division under the Communications at Head Office – Support Functions:

Role Description

Job Purpose: The Corporate Affairs Senior Specialist supports the bank’s reputation, stakeholder engagement, and strategic communication efforts by delivering high quality external and internal communication, managing media and regulatory relationships, and strengthening the bank’s brand and corporate citizenship. The role contributes to effective reputation management, CSR and sustainability initiatives, crisis preparedness, and clear communication that aligns employees, customers, regulators, and community stakeholders with the bank’s strategic objectives.



Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop communication strategies that reinforce the bank’s brand, values, and business objectives.
  • Support the communication rollout of new banking products, financial results, and strategic initiatives.
  • Ensure all communications adhere to banking regulations and internal governance standards.
  • Media Engagement and media monitoring of coverage related to the bank, the financial sector, competitors, and the broader economy; produce reports with insights and recommendations.
  • Draft speeches, talking points, press releases, and executive communication for senior leadership.
  • Support crisis communication protocols for various issues including reputational threats.
  • Work closely with relevant teams to ensure communication aligns with regulatory expectations (e.g., Bank of Zambia, securities regulators, consumer protection).
  • Maintain constructive relationships with government agencies and industry associations.
  • Assist in preparing submissions, position papers, and communication for regulatory engagements or policy consultations.
  • Map and manage relationships with key stakeholders: regulators, customers, communities, industry associations, media, and partners.
  • Support the implementation of stakeholder engagement strategies tied to the bank’s strategic priorities.
  • Prepare stakeholder updates, briefing documents, and engagement reports.
  • Support the design, management, and communication of CSR programmes aligned to financial inclusion, literacy, education, entrepreneurship, and community development.
  • Assist in preparing sustainability reports and impact stories.
  • Develop internal communication materials to strengthen employee engagement, culture, and alignment to strategy.
  • Support change management communication for digital transformation, policy updates, and organizational initiatives.
  • Manage internal storytelling and visibility for leadership and departmental achievements.
  • Monitor risks that may impact the bank’s reputation, including market sentiment, regulatory changes, and emerging issues in the financial sector.
  • Prepare risk assessments, holding statements, and response frameworks.
  • Maintain issues management trackers and ensure preparedness for crisis scenarios.
  • Perform other work as assigned by Communications Management.
  • Any other duties as assigned by superiors.

Requirements

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Full Grade 12 Certificate with 5 credits; including English and Mathematics.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communications, Public Relations, Political Science, Business, International Relations, Journalism, Marketing or a related field.
  • 5 to 8+ years’ experience in corporate affairs, communications, public relations, media, or stakeholder relations, preferably within the banking or financial services sector.
  • Experience collaborating with executives, media, and regulatory stakeholders.
  • Licensed member of the Zambia Institute of Public Relations and Communications (ZIPRC).
