Ifaw Zambia

Ifaw Zambia is dedicated to advancing human-wildlife coexistence, particularly around the Lukusuzi and Luambe National Parks in Zambia's Eastern Province. The organization works by serving as a critical interface between wildlife conservation efforts and local communities. IFAW empowers residents to become co-stewards of their ecosystems, building trust with traditional leaders and implementing sustainable livelihood strategies. This work is central to IFAW’s 'Room to Roam' initiative, which aims for a connected future for wildlife across East and Southern Africa. The organization promotes conservation-compatible livelihoods while working closely with local leadership structures, including traditional authorities, Community Resource Boards, and district government, alongside national stakeholders like the Department of National Parks and Wildlife (DNPW). IFAW strengthens the role of communities, especially women and youth, as vital actors in securing long-term conservation success.
