Higher Education Authority

The Higher Education Authority is a statutory body established under the Higher Education Act, 2013. Its mandate is to regulate and monitor standards in Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) to ensure quality services and contribute to the enhancement of human capital and accelerated national development. The Authority manages the development and implementation of standards, registration, and auditing of HEIs. Its activities include overseeing surveillance and inspections of HEIs to ensure compliance with minimum operational criteria. Furthermore, the Authority conducts research on topical and emerging issues in higher education and manages the preparation and publication of reports on the state of higher education. The organization is located in Lusaka, Zambia.
