Armature Winders- Ten (10)

JOB PURPOSE / DESCRIPTION

To carry out rewinding works on transformers for both High Voltage and Low Voltage coils. Maintenance and operation of winding equipment and tools.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Full Grade Twelve (12) Certificate
  • The minimum Certificate in Electrical/Armature Winding from a reputable learning institution.

EXPERIENCE AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum of [2–3] years’ practical experience.
  • Registered member of the Engineering Institute of Zambia (EIZ).


JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • To carry out continuous risk assessment before and during task execution.
  • Remove damaged or burnt transformer windings (HV & LV) during overhaul.
  • Accurately measure and record winding data (turns, conductor size, configuration, insulation class).
  • Rewind transformer coils using appropriate copper or aluminium conductors.
  • Apply correct insulation materials (press paper, kraft paper, insulation boards, sleeves, etc.).
  • Perform coil assembly, taping, clamping, and varnishing as required.
  • Ensure proper inter-layer insulation and clearances are maintained.
  • Assist in core assembly, stacking, and re-tightening of laminations.
  • Conduct basic electrical checks such as continuity and resistance tests before tanking.
  • Maintain workshop tools, winding machines, and equipment in good condition.
  • Always maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the workshop.
  • Observe all safety and quality control procedures during repairs
  • Should be able to carry out any other assigned tasks
